I had my orthodontist appointment today. I was supposed to get rubber bands. I wasn’t sure how they were going to do them. They put them on at all like I thought they would. I thought the idea was to pull the couple teeth on my upper left side out over the teeth on the lower left side. So I thought they would do a rubber band from the inside of the uppers, to the outside of the lowers. I was wondering how they would do it.
But they didn’t install the rubber band like that. Some of the brackets have little tabs. Wheat they did was to have a rubber band on each side. They would hook to the tab on the bracket in the back of my mouth on the uppers. And the other end of the rubber band would attach to a tab on one of the ceramic brackets on the lower front. This will supposedly put the uppers out over the lowers. But I am not sure what affect it will have on the teeth on the upper left, since they really don’t pull out to the side at all.
They gave me a few bags of the rubber bands, including a bag of bright colored rubber bands.
I had to laugh when she reminded me that I need to wear the rubber bands as close to 24 hours a day as possible. I think she is used to talking to kids. With all the money I spent on the braces, I have no problem wearing the rubber bands 24 hours a day if that is what it takes.
